Let’s get more ubiquitously available, open information museum terminals in place.

A Crowd sourced  use of Image Base Rendering and Crowd-sourcing… the new answer to the idea of cloud computing.

The new digital tools outlined in the present report include electronic distance measurement devices (EDMs), global positioning systems (GPS), digital cameras, video recording, and handheld data-entry devices. As a result much more data is being collected than was possible with traditional paper and photographic records. Electronic storage costs are becoming increasingly cheaper (according to Moore’s law the costs to size ratio of data storage is declining exponentially) and instruments continue to be able to capture ever-greater detail even in the most remote field sites.

Barak Obama in Cairo

So long as our relationship is defined by our differences, we will empower those who sow hatred rather than peace, and who promote conflict rather than the cooperation that can help all of our people achieve justice and prosperity. This cycle of suspicion and discord must end.

I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles – principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.

I do so recognizing that change cannot happen overnight. No single speech can eradicate years of mistrust, nor can I answer in the time that I have all the complex questions that brought us to this point. But I am convinced that in order to move forward, we must say openly the things we hold in our hearts, and that too often are said only behind closed doors. There must be a sustained effort to listen to each other; to learn from each other; to respect one another; and to seek common ground. As the Holy Koran tells us, “Be conscious of God and speak always the truth.” That is what I will try to do – to speak the truth as best I can, humbled by the task before us, and firm in my belief that the interests we share as human beings are far more powerful than the forces that drive us apart.

This issue has been a source of tension between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. For many years, Iran has defined itself in part by its opposition to my country, and there is indeed a tumultuous history between us. In the middle of the Cold War, the United States played a role in the overthrow of a democratically-elected Iranian government. Since the Islamic Revolution, Iran has played a role in acts of hostage-taking and violence against U.S. troops and civilians. This history is well known. Rather than remain trapped in the past, I have made it clear to Iran’s leaders and people that my country is prepared to move forward. The question, now, is not what Iran is against, but rather what future it wants to build.

It will be hard to overcome decades of mistrust, but we will proceed with courage, rectitude and resolve. There will be many issues to discuss between our two countries, and we are willing to move forward without preconditions on the basis of mutual respect. But it is clear to all concerned that when it comes to nuclear weapons, we have reached a decisive point. This is not simply about America’s interests. It is about preventing a nuclear arms race in the Middle East that could lead this region and the world down a hugely dangerous path.

Thank you for beginning to acknowledge this… the beginning of a New way of thinking is in THIS sort of recognition.

I understand those who protest that some countries have weapons that others do not. No single nation should pick and choose which nations hold nuclear weapons. That is why I strongly reaffirmed America’s commitment to seek a world in which no nations hold nuclear weapons. And any nation – including Iran – should have the right to access peaceful nuclear power if it complies with its responsibilities under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. That commitment is at the core of the Treaty, and it must be kept for all who fully abide by it. And I am hopeful that all countries in the region can share in this goal.

Literally.

ever wish that songs self-referenced and were about all the stupid things that happen in music videos?

I didn’t… then i discovered this… now, i don’t want to see a music video, unless it is a “self referencing tally of events in song form of the things that are being expressed in images and motion scenes”.

This one is the penultimate, best ever… once you see this, the others will be boring… so feel free to just watch this one multiple times, rather than all the others…

Get it… cus plastic wrap… but they arenèt stopping plastic wrap…

only banning plastic bags at the checkout…does nothing about the ubiquity of packaging that lasts for decades… only to photochemically leach out chemicals that can mess with hormones and cause cancers … but tis a start.  -also, this is only in Australia… which may be a terrible movie… but it’s an interesting country.

Target calls it a wrap on plastic
THE retail giant Target has confirmed it will ban plastic bags in its 283 Australian stores next month. It will be the first large retailer to break ranks and ban bags on environmental grounds.
Instead of issuing plastic bags to shoppers at checkouts, from June 1 Target will require shoppers to either bring their own bags or buy reusable bags for $1 each or compostable corn starch bags for 10 cents each.
Other retailers are understood to be furious at the decision because it undermines what was a solid retail opposition to banning bags.
Target says the ban will stop 100 million plastic bags from going into landfill and polluting the environment each year – or just under 3 per cent of the 4 billion bags that pass through Australian checkouts each year.
The federal Environment Minister, Peter Garrett, promised to legislate for a national ban last year, but ended up leaving the decision to each state.
